'GTA V' Lowriders DLC out for 'GTA Online' - what you should know

Rockstar Games Newswire

Rockstar Games has announced that the newest DLC for the online multiplayer feature of their long-running "Grand Theft Auto" series is now available.

Dubbed the Lowriders expansion, the DLC greatly expanded the content for "GTA Online" players. Most noted among the new features is the introduction of a new custom car shop in in-game Los Santos, Benny's Original Motor Works. Located in Strawberry near the Olympic Freeway, the new custom garage specializes in custom Lowrider vehicle mod kits for four classic in-game vehicles. In addition, the update also unlocks two new Lowrider-customizable rides, the Declasse Moonbeam van and the Willard Faction.

The Lowriders DLC also gives players access to whole new missions and side-quests, including the main Lowrider Lamar story. In these missions, players must enlist the help of a crew and join Lamar as he fights the Ballas and Vagos to become the undisputed Lowrider gang leader.

The new storyline is made up of eight new Contact Missions with Lamar. With the new missions also comes new firepower, and players can visit the Ammu-Nation to check out the new rapid-fire machine pistol and melee machete. There are also additional weapon skins for both practical and luxurious looks.

Meanwhile, players who are into expanding their Los Santos properties may also look out for deals and promotions included as a celebration of the new DLC. Additional four properties may be added to the player portfolio (mix of apartments and garages), and until Oct. 25, there is a 25 percent rebate on qualified properties selected through Dynasty 8. Requirements for the rebate include joining the Social Club as a member of any crew, and as part of the Rockstar mailing list.

Releasing the new Lowriders DLC update has silenced earlier rumors about upcoming expansions. However, although the new expansion did include both new and improved features and items, some fans are still waiting for other expansions, such as the much-rumored Casino DLC that will reportedly open up the in-game casinos and introduce "GTA" bookmaking.
