The current franchise installment, "Grand Theft Auto V," features three protagonists and the game progresses with missions from their points of view. It is said that Rockstar Games will not deviate from this formula with the much-rumored follow-up, "GTA VI." And since every new game introduces new features, the developer is said to be releasing "GTA VI" with a twist – the group of new characters will have a girl protagonist among them.

According to N4BB, the upcoming offering from the "Grand Theft Auto" franchise will have Hollywood A-listers as guests. It is being rumored that Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling will voice two of the new characters.

Although it is still unclear if Rockstar Games will follow the three-character formula, Value Walk observed that having multiple central characters in a "GTA" story is hard to pull off successfully. The industry follower said that some of the feedback on "GTA V" is not that great since players have not connected to some of the characters as the missions and gameplay for the story mode often switches between the main protagonists.

Neuro Gadget agreed with this, adding that having three characters central to the story watered down the plot. The industry observer also said that should Rockstar Games continue with multiple-character plots in "GTA VI," the developer should make sure that there are enough missions for all the characters, so that each protagonist fully develops.

Having multiple characters dovetail with other rumored features of "GTA VI." According to speculations, aside from having a female protagonist in the group, the upcoming sequel will feature a massive map and even connected locations from previous "GTA" titles.

As for its release date, "GTA VI" does not seem to be launching in the near future, with some observers saying 2019 could be the earliest it will be released.
