The much-speculated role of Sylvester Stallone in "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" has finally been revealed. It has been confirmed that the action star will cameo in the upcoming film as Stakar Ogord, also known as Starhawk. This cameo role, however, is said to be an integral part of the series.

According to ComicBook, Stakar is a key character in the series because he is the offspring of heroes Quasar and Kismet, and because he "helped form the Guardians in the 31st century." Previously a member of the Reavers of Arcturus, warriors from the planet Arcturus IV, Stakar is known as an antihero who teams up with Aleta, his sister-turned-lover.

On Twitter, Stitch Kingdom revealed the film's production notes, which directly references Stallone's role in the "Guardians of the Galaxy" franchise.

Previous rumors hinted that Stallone will be playing the role of a Ravager. However, according to Screen Rant, his rumored role as a member of Yondu Udonta's Ravagers is still partly true. The publication stated, "According to the junior novel based on Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which released April 4th and includes a story bridging the gap between the two films, Stallone will be a Ravager... but his relationship with Yondu is a lot more complicated than we wager even Star-Lord himself is aware of."

Stallone's role is known to have a feud with Yondu (Michael Rooker). Since the teaser videos for "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" are giving viewers the assumption that Yondu has ditched his role as the leader of the Ravagers to become a member of the Guardians, it could be how Stakar is going to step in.

Last year, director James Gunn told Cinema Blend that while Stallone does not exactly have a "huge" role in the film, it is an important one and he is going to be a "great and key supporting actor."
