'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' spoilers: Did Bradley Cooper reveal who Peter Quill's dad is?

 Marvel Studios

Director James Gunn has always been coy with spoilers of any way, shape or form for the highly anticipated Marvel sequel "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" but this isn't the case with Bradley Cooper, the voice of Rocket Racoon in the beloved franchise.

The "Limitless" actor may have revealed the answer to the long standing question of who Peter Quill's father really is. In an interview with MTV International for his upcoming movie "Burnt," Cooper said that Star-Lord could be calling Thanos his dad soon.

The actor hinted that the "huge guy sitting in a chair hovering in space," referring to the upcoming film's alleged main villain. When the interviewer said that Thanos couldn't be, the actor replied "Oh, it's not his dad? I think it is his dad, isn't it?"

When his "Burnt" co-star Sienna Miller quipped that he may have just leaked a massive "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" spoiler, Cooper then clarified that he does not know anything yet and he may have just "misread" it.

Some media outlets believe that the actor only mistook a scene from the first film for another, believing it is from the sequel. Nonetheless, Cooper's statement has the Internet spinning and thrilled that a plot point of the follow-up may have just really been revealed.

One of the biggest questions Gunn is saving up for "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" is the truth about Star-Lord's dad. There are many theories and guesses about this aspect and the name of Thanos is one of the most frequently mentioned.

Upon becoming aware of the interview presumably after fans flocked to ask for clarifications, the director took to Twitter to clarify Bradley doesn't know yet who the main villain is at the time of the interview.

"In response to all the stories coming out, Bradley Cooper didn't reveal anything. He just got the script and hasn't read it yet. I promise," the director tweeted. Should Thanos end up being the main villain, only time will tell.

"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" hits the big screen on May 5, 2017.
