'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' spoilers: Marvel President Kevin Feige reveals Thanos won't be in the film
For months now, there are prevailing reports that "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" will be graced by Thanos, one of the greatest, most feared and powerful villains in the Marvel universe. But fans can stop looking forward to that now as Marvel President Kevin Feige just officially doused these reports..
"I wouldn't look too hard in that movie for Thanos," Feige said during an interview with Empire (via Comic Book Movie). "The next time we see Thanos he will not be messing around. It will be, 'Oh, that's why they've been teasing this villain for five years!'" he went on to say.
That being said, "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" will not have the motley crew led by Star-Lord take on the big bad just yet. Feige did not provide a clue as to who fans can expect will do the troublemaking in the highly anticipated sequel.
Feige added that the superhero flick will be more about expanding the ragtag gang. "There've been many different incarnations of the Guardians over the years in the comics and we'll catch a glimpse of additions over the course of the movie," he explained.
Thanos won't likely wreak havoc on Earth until the upcoming two-part film "Avengers: Infinity War," where he is expected descend to the planet to orchestrate destruction with the Infinity Gauntlet and the Infinity stones in his possession.
It is important to note that there were heaps of theories claiming that Thanos will be revealed as Star-Lord aka Peter Quill's father. Director James Gunn has stated that "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" will introduce Daddy Quill.
Sadly, with Thanos passing up on an appearance in the sequel, it looks like the baddie won't have some daddy shoes to fill. He is expected to be busy with planning his attack on Earth.
Apart from some titbits on "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2," Feige also revealed that the "Spider-Man" reboot will be a "big and spectacular" retelling of "the story of a 15-year-old kid" while "Thor: Ragnarok" will mostly take place outside of Earth.
"Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" will be out May 5, 2017.
