Gwen Stefani has made new music again, and she said that her new album "Now This Is What the Truth Feels Like" has helped her get past her broken marriage and navigate the waters of new love.

Speaking to Refinery 29 about her new album, Stefani said, "I just felt at a certain point in my own heart, when everything was crushed and I was down real, real low, I was like, I don't want to be down here. This is not me. I remember feeling embarrassed. Like, I [got to] prove that this is not going to be who I am. I [got to] turn this into music."

But aside from dealing with insecurity and heartbreak, the best thing about Stefani's new music is that it speaks about her love for God. The former judge of "The Voice" said this is evident in the song called "Rocket Ship."

"That's when the label said to me, 'Listen, we think this overall album you're writing is too personal. We don't think people are going to relate. You should just put out an art record.' And I was like, 'Are you kidding me? I'm literally channelling God here. I'm saving my own life with this record and you come and punch me in the face?'" she said.

Refusing to back down, Stefani pushed through with writing personal songs. "The next day I went in and told those guys, 'Let's write the most [expletive] personal [expletive], ever — opposite of what anyone would want to hear.' And that's when we wrote 'Used to Love You,'" she said.

Stefani also discussed her blossoming romance with "The Voice" co-judge Blake Shelton. When asked if he influenced her new album musically, the singer answered no. "Every song was written purely out of whatever my heart was going through at that moment," she maintained.
