After more than a decade of waiting, fans may soon be able to finally get their hands on a brand new addition to the highly popular "Half-Life" franchise. If reports are to be believed, then the possible "Half-Life 3" sequel may be a game that will be played in full virtual reality as players continue to experience Gordon Freeman's epic story in a new immersive platform.

While there has been no official confirmation from Valve as of yet, new reports are suggesting that the next title in the popular franchise may be a VR game that will most likely use the company's own VR headset, the HTC Vive.

"Half-Life 3" has, of course, become an elusive game that has always been out of the reach of players for the past 12 years. The sequel continues to be non-existent despite the hordes of requests and petitions from the franchise's loyal fans.

Now, new strings of codes that have apparently been uncovered in Valve's Destinations app seems to point to a sequel, or at least a spin-off title, that will continue the story that has been told so far. The Destinations app is Valve's own exploration app that allows users to explore different places which they can then share with friends.

While the app itself isn't necessarily a game, some fans were able to spot several strings of code that points to a possible connection to a "Half-Life" VR game. The string of code — which mentions "HL:VR" — also includes several references to controller, weapons, and additional movement options.

Valve has, of course, been keeping mum about the entire situation, but if the codes are indeed for a new "Half-Life" game — be it a spin-off or an entirely new stand-alone title set in the "Half-Life" universe — then it will still be exciting news for the entire gaming community as a whole.
