Players may spot some changes in the beta version of "Halo 5: Guardians" as new content were added to the unofficial version of the game. Developer 343 took out the Truth and Empire maps, which were available in the first week of the beta, and replaced them with Regret and Eden, which are the updated versions of the former. Beta testers are also gifted with the Battle Rifle. Players can get their hands on these on the Slayer playlist.

Meanwhile, gamers can play the new game type, Breakout, wherein a player has one life for each round and has to kill the enemy in order to win. The first team to win five rounds wins the Breakout game. This mode is accessible in Crossfire and Trench maps.

Gamers who are playing as Slayer in the Regret map can try out the new weapon, Hydra MLRS.

Players can get the beta version in two ways. First, Xbox gamers who applied for the Xbox Preview Program should have received an invitation from Microsoft detailing how they can get access to the beta version. Microsoft is strictly reminding gamers not to share their respective access codes to others.

Another way is by using the access codes from "Halo: The Master Chief Collection." Those who pruchase the current "Halo" game should check for the access code.

343 Games and Microsoft rolled out the beta version for "Halo 5: Guardians" before the official release of the new multiplayer game in order to gain feedback from gamers. It seems that Microsoft took it hard when the latest "Halo: The Master Chief Collection" had a rocky launch due to the bugs and issues that plagued the game.

The beta trial will run until Jan. 19. There are speculations that Microsoft will make the beta version available to the public, although there has been no confirmation about this. The official version of the "Halo 5: Guardians" is scheduled to be released this fall.
