'Halo 5: Guardians' DLC release date: 'Anvil's Legacy' launches Sept. 8

Halo 5 - Anvil's Legacy DLC343 Industries

343 Industries has confirmed via the official website that "Halo 5: Guardians" is getting a new DLC pack this coming September titled "Anvil's Legacy," along with the launch of the Forge Tools for PC. The DLC will be adding new weapons, maps, and a content browser which will function for both Xbox One and the PC.

The content browser will allow players to quickly find community-created Forge content for the game. It will support custom-made maps, Forge Object Groups as well as custom game modes. Since it works on both platforms players on Xbox One can search and use content no matter which platform the content was made on.

Arena multiplayer will be getting the new "Mercy" map while Warzone Assault mode is getting the new "Temple" map. While the former is designed for tight fast-paced action the other is a larger, desert environment set in the Sanghelios world.

Just like former DLC content it will come with new REQs which includes three brand new weapons, a Sound Dampener weapon attachment, weapon skins and armor skins among many other minor additions to the game. A report from Gamespot showcases one of the new weapons, an upgraded Magnum.

In a separate report from Gamespot, it has been revealed that 343 Industries is also releasing a brand new "Halo" PC app that acts as a central hub to access "Halo 5" Forge Tools. It also allows players on PC to download and play "Halo" PC games such as "Spartan Assault" and the upcoming "Halo Wars 2."

Unfortunately, not all "Halo" PC games are being released for the app. "Halo 2" and "Halo: Combat Evolved" have not been included and it has been clarified that only "Halo" games developed by 343 Industries are included. Other games have been developed by Bungie, the original developers and creators of the "Halo" franchise.

"Halo 5: Guardians - Anvil's Legacy" launches on Sept. 8.
