'Halo 5: Guardians' news: 'Infinity's Armory' DLC maps

343 Industries, Halo Waypoint

The new "Infinity's Armory" DLC for "Halo 5: Guardians" just recently launched, and with the DLC pack comes two brand new maps that offer a multitude of multiplayer options for avid players.

More details regarding the two maps, which cover their narrative significance and design, are detailed in the official Halo Waypoint page.

First of the two new maps is known as "Riptide" and this was a former world now altered by the Created, the race now governed by Cortana. It is explained that the Created, with their limitless power, have been able to force animal and plant evolution, alter the landscape and remodel the planet as they see fit.

The result is a map littered with high catwalks with numerous twists and turns, making it a little labyrinth that can easily confuse some players. It is stated in the official page that it is best for players to accustom themselves with the upper catwalks in order to locate their opponents and to get a better view of the sand and steel maze.

"Riptide" is only available for Arena matches, making it a frantic battlezone due to its very tight and winding spaces.

"Urban" is the second new map and this is designed solely for Warzone Assault matches. In design it is quite the opposite of the "Riptide" match due to its open spaces and unobstructed sightlines, making it an ideal map for players who like to take on the role of a sniper.

This second map is set in Andesia, a place ravaged by war during the Insurrection and during the Human-Covenant conflict. It is one of the few maps in the game with aesthetics purely based on a human community and there are remnants in the map showing the history of the numerous wars seen in past "Halo" games.

"Infinity's Armory" also introduces several new weapons, armor and items into the game such as the "Halo 2 Battle Rifle" and several new REQs for the game's Carbine.
