A new trailer for "Halo 5: Guardians" gives fans a peek into the future, which Master Chief followers will find appalling and miserable. The clip shows the Master Chief killed in the line of duty in the year 2560. His death is mourned by the city, which is oppressed by fear and political chaos.

The devastating passing of the renowned Spartan John-117, although deeply grieved, ultimately awakens the city to continue his fight. His heroism, which he demonstrates until the end, becomes the cornerstone of human race for a new beginning.

Fans have every reason to mourn with them, too, but some may feel that the "Halo 5: Guardians" clip is awfully familiar. This is because back when "Halo 3" was about to come out in 2007, Microsoft also had trailers and promos that made it seem that the Master Chief had reached his last fight.

And it looks like Microsoft and 343 Industries are doing this again to have gamers thinking once more whether or not Master Chief will escape death this time. Indeed, the warrior has gone through a lot, and fans know that debris won't get rid of him.

According to Tech Times, "Halo 5: Guardians" executive producer Frank O'Connor already said that the end of Master Chief's adventures lies in the upcoming game. But by and large, no concrete details about the game's story have been provided by the developer or the publisher.

The aforesaid site, however, teases that Master Chief's death will be the premise of the title's single-player campaign, while in the action-packed 12 on 12 Warzone multiplayer mode, the soldier will be alive and well fighting his heart out on maps almost four times the size of the ones in "Halo 4."

Expect Commander Locke of ONI, too, to play a vital role in the first-person shooter video game. "Halo 5: Guardians" releases on Oct. 27.
