'Halo 5' news: Contents of upcoming 'Hammer Storm' update detailed

Halo Waypoint

Fans looking forward to the arrival of the next "Halo 5" update, known as "Hammer Storm," now have some new details to sink their teeth into.

First off, the upcoming update will be adding a new arena map to the game known as Torque.

In a post on Halo Waypoint, the game's developers showed a few of the map's notable features.

Torque is being labeled as the "new symmetrical arena map," according to the game's developers, so fans can look forward to a different kind of experience once they try it out.

Torque also features a variety of prominent, high-rising structures that may enable players to explore different kinds of strategic moves once they are engaged in combat.

Aside from adding an arena map, "Hammer Storm" will also be introducing new game modes to "Halo 5."

The upcoming update will be adding new modes along with some other offerings that may be familiar to long-time fans of the "Halo" franchise.

One of the game modes players can look forward to is Assault, a new type of "Halo" experience that is actually based on the Neutral Bomb Assault mode that was present in earlier offerings from the franchise.

"Hammer Storm" will also feature the return of Grifball, although as the developers have previously noted in a post on Halo Waypoint, this fan favorite will also be tweaked so that it can provide an even more enjoyable playing experience.

Along with Assault and Grifball, players will also be given the opportunity to create other game modes such as Oddball and Ricochet by simply fiddling with some of the available custom options.

The game's developers have yet to announce an official release date for "Hammer Storm," although players may find out about that soon enough.

A "Halo 5" livestream featuring the contents of "Hammer Storm" update is set to take place on Feb. 23 and players may learn more details about its official release date during that event.
