"Halo: The Master Chief Collection" could be adding the Infection multiplayer mode in the very near future.

News of the multiplayer mode possibly coming to "Halo: The Master Chief Collection" came directly from the game's developer, 343 Industries.

According to 343 Industries, the team working on the game is already working on what updates they could possibly add, and one of the things being taken into consideration is the Infection multiplayer mode, according to Polygon.

For those who are not familiar with Infection, this multiplayer mode is made up of players known as survivors and those who are infected. The players who are infected are tasked with hunting down or infecting the survivors up until the point that none is left. Meanwhile, the survivors are trying to fend off being infected long enough to win.

The mode is not unlike a survival horror game featuring zombies, and that is one of the reasons why it quickly became a fan favorite upon its debut.

Infection was originally featured in "Halo 3," according to Gamespot. It then showed up again three years later in "Halo: Reach."

An altered version of Infection also appeared in "Halo 4," although by then, the mode had been altered and renamed as Flood.

The game's developer has already indicated that they are planning to add more content to "Halo: The Master Chief Collection" in the very near future.

According to 343 Industries, some of the additions could be familiar, such as Infection, while some will be all new to the franchise.

Other additions that could be coming to "Halo: The Master Chief Collection" may include new battlegrounds and even new weapons for players to toy around with.

Fans looking for more news about "Halo: The Master Chief Collection" should also tune into Gamescom. More news about "Halo: The Master Chief Collection" is expected to be revealed at the event; and news about "Halo 5: Guardians" is likely to be announced as well.
