"Halo" is still just hovering over the horizon, or at least the television series adaptation for it, as the people involved in the production of the said adaptation have confirmed that it is still in active development.

It also appears that the show is to be produced by none other than science-fiction (sci-fi) veteran Steven Spielberg and will be titled "Halo: Forward Unto Dawn." Its development status has also been confirmed to be still active by Showtime network CEO David Nevins.

"[The show is] still in very active development," announced Nevins, while Gary Levine, Showtime's president of programming, also elaborated that what they have seen so far during the development are encouraging for the future of the franchise and for the network. "It's still live action, and it will definitely satisfy the fans of 'Halo' and I think also satisfy the drama audiences of Showtime," said Levine.

This was after several years passing between the announcement of the show's conception up until now, where some fans have wondered what happened to the show and what might have been taking so long to produce it. It can be recalled that back in 2013, it was Microsoft which announced the existence of "Halo: Forward Unto Dawn," which was a collaboration between developer 343 Industries and executive producer Steven Spielberg.

For those unfamiliar, "Halo" is a franchise about a military sci-fi first-person shooter (FPS) featuring a seven-foot-tall super soldier named Master Chief John-117 and his outfit called the Spartans. With the help of a female artificial intelligence called Cortana, Master Chief acts as a key figure in an interstellar war between humanity and a theocratic alliance of aliens known as the Covenant.

The franchise first took off back in 2001 and has since spawned numerous award-winning iterations over the years. Its original developers, Bungie, has since moved on to other projects like "Destiny" and its successor.

No release has been announced or hinted for "Halo: Forward Unto Dawn," so fans might have to wait indefinitely for the TV adaptation.
