'Halo Wars 2' release date news: New gameplay footage revealed; New mode

Xbox/Microsoft

During the PAX West Panel, new footage for the upcoming game, "Halo Wars 2," has been teased by developer 343 Industries, along with an entirely new mode for this RTS game.

According to Game Spot, the footage and the game developers teased the game's single-player campaign, but unfortunately it was only limited to the first mission. In this demo, it was shown that the UNSC crew has been put to cryosleep for almost three decades and are finally awakened in a completely unfamiliar place. "Halo Wars 2" takes place shortly after the events in the game "Halo 5: Guardians."

However, the new gameplay video is not the only thing 343 Industries teased to the fans back in its PAX West panel. Dan Ayoub, the head of this studio teased a new game mode that will surely change the way players can play an RTS-type game. According to DualShockers, he even went so far as to say that this game mode will "take standard RTS gameplay and turn it on its head."

Furthermore, this new game mode can be played in a much shorter period of time as well, with Ayoub saying that the game can be played "like five, six, seven minutes." As such, fans are aflame with various rumors, but no consistent speculation about this new game mode has been agreed upon just yet. With this, fans will just have to wait for more announcements before they give a more concrete theory about it.

As previously revealed, the "Halo Wars" sequel will be released on Feb. 21, 2017. However, for those who cannot wait to get their hands on the game, they need not wait that long, as there will be another beta testing period for the game, which features a new mode. However, it is not yet confirmed if this new mode is the same as the one teased by Ayoub.
