After seven books, eight feature film adaptations, a new stage play, and a spin-off film that takes place decades before the main franchise, fans have been wondering if there will be a "Harry Potter" television series. Author J.K. Rowling has responded and immediately shot down the chances of a TV series happening anytime soon.

When a fan asked via Twitter when they might see a "Harry Potter" TV spin-off series or perhaps a TV series adaptation of the books, Rowling replied, "Right after the opera, Potter-on-ice and the interpretative dance version of Beedle the Bard #NotActuallyHappening." 

The hashtag that ended her reply is an adamant statement that there will be no television spin-offs for the time being. The author even followed up her tweet with a second post that reads, "To all those begging for Potter-on-Ice: the image of Ice Voldemort performing the triple salchow will haunt my dreams tonight. #sick." 

While a television series isn't high up on the author's to-do list, she is currently working on several other projects, most notably the stage play "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child," which will open in London's West End in the Palace Theatre in early 2016, and the prequel/ spin-off film "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them," which will be released on Nov. 18, 2016. 

Very little is known about "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" and it is advertised as an untold story of the titular character without being a prequel per se, indicating it may be set during Harry's years in Hogwarts instead of taking place after the war against Voldemort. 

Meanwhile, "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" is set 70 years prior to the events of the first "Harry Potter" film and it focuses on the wizard Newt Scamander, to be played by Academy Award winner Eddie Redmayne. The film is not exactly a prequel to the main series but is set in the same universe.
