Harvey Weinstein case news, updates: Film executive allegedly used ex-Israeli spies to extract information from his victims
More news has been revealed about the case of former film executive, Harvery Weinstein regarding his case involving multiple counts of sexual assault. Actress Asia Argento has stated that Weinstein utilized ex-Israeli agents as spies, including former Mossad agents to gather information from his accusers.
The details were first provided by the New Yorker in great detail, stating that by hiring these ex-covert operatives, the information on the misdeeds of Weinstein was kept buried. These agents gathered information on his victims, as well as journalists that ran stories about his crimes. One of the firms that Weinstein approached was Kroll, which is known as one of the most competent corporate-intelligence agencies in the market.
Another notable agency that was revealed to be used by Weinstein was Black Cube, which is where some former members of Mossad can be reached. According to BBC News, Argento stated in her Twitter page, "Why didn't I, @rosemcgowan, @RoArquette @AnnabellSciorra speak up earlier? We were followed by ex-Mossad agents. Isn't that terrifying? Very." It appears that the actresses mentioned had no idea that they were being tailed by agents.
The Daily Mail has revealed that some of the agents disguised themselves as fellow victims and even as an activist for women's rights movement. This was in order to gain sympathy and get the actresses to become vulnerable so as to extract more information. On Oct. 10, an agent sent an email to one of the accusers, Rose McGowan, asking her about her current situation after the scandal broke out.
The agent was even able to meet with the actress multiple times in person. Fortunately, Ehud Barak, the Israeli Prime Minister has weighed in on the matter, according to the Irish Times. The Israeli Prime Minister revealed that he was the one who informed Weinstein about Black Cube by giving him the contact information of the company.
However, Barak's spokesperson also stated that the Prime Minister did not know the full extent of the company's capabilities, or what exactly Weinstein needed it for.
