Owners of Nintendo's newest console, the Switch, are in for a nostalgic treat this year in the form of Aloft Studio's 16-bit fantasy role-player "Hazelnut Bastille," which will see an official release on the console and the PC platform later this 2018.

According to the announcement, developers are currently hard at work in order to deliver the game within the year. It also expounds on the supported PC platforms of the game, which will include Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems.

The title's release for PC will either be at the same time with the Nintendo Switch or months after it launches for the latter.

In addition to this release announcement, Aloft Studios also shared that, 1993 "Secret of Mana" composer, Hiroki Kikuta will be jumping on board the upcoming project.

Kikuta expressed his excitement on the role-playing game (RPG) project, telling fans and gamers alike that he will be doing his best to live up to the game's hype and high expectations.

"Hazelnut Bastille is a wonderful looking retro-style game! I'm looking forward to being a part of it and hope we can create music that lives up to the rest of the game and everyone's expectations," the veteran composer remarked.

Aesthetic-wise, the game will be taking inspiration from various classic 90s role-players such as "Zelda: A Link to the Past" and "Super Metroid"— games which were originally released on Nintendo's SNES console back in the day.

In terms of gameplay structure, "Hazelnut Bastille'' will be a top-down platformer heavily inspired by adventure sub-genre metroidvania. Meanwhile, the storyline will follow the adventures of a young maiden, who travels at the edge of the world looking for mythological artifacts which holds the key to returning something that she has lost.

Players will then be tasked to take control of the youngster in order to navigate the vast terrain of her homeworld, interacting with numerous characters as the game progresses.

Once it drops, "Hazelnut Bastille' will be made readily available for the PC and Nintendo Switch platform. As of present time, only a window launch date of late 2018 has been revealed. Similarly, developers have yet to issue a price for the title.
