Dogs are the most loyal creatures on earth, and the love and dedication they show their owners are truly incomparable.

When Ryan Jessen, 33, from Northern California checked into a Marysville hospital after experiencing a severe migraine, he and his dog did not expect that he would go into a coma and never regain consciousness. It turned out that Jessen had a severe brain haemorrhage that might have been caused by high blood pressure, according to The Dodo.

Family and friends decided to visit Jessen at the Rideout Memorial Hospital on Nov. 30 to say their last goodbyes, and they even included his beloved dog Mollie.

Jessen's sister, Michelle, even posted a video of their touching reunion on Facebook. In it, Mollie was seen sniffing her unconscious owner before settling on his legs.

"The hospital did the sweetest thing for us and allowed us to bring my brother's dog in to 'say goodbye' so she'd know why her human [owner] never came home," wrote Michelle. "If you knew my brother, he really loved his sweet dog.

"THANK YOU to everybody for the outpouring of support, but I won't be responding anymore," she said. "We are sincerely touched and humbled by others' stories, their sharing in our sadness and the kindness of so many people. Don't worry about the dog! We're keeping her!!! She's part of the family."

After Jessen's death, his organs were removed for donations. On Dec. 1, his heart was given to a 17-year-old boy.

"A 17-year old boy in California whose birthday is on Christmas will receive my brother's heart today," Michelle said of the transfer. "As sad as it is to lose Ryan, we know his heart is going to bring so much joy to the family of the recipient. I wish Ryan could know what a difference his heart will make for that young man."
