Players who are disappointed in "Call of Duty: WII's" small-scale multiplayer battles or those who find "Battlefield 1's" lacking, may discover that "Hell Let Loose" fits their craving for a large-scale World War II (WWII) conflict.

"Hell Let Loose" is a platoon-based realistic multiplayer first-person shooter (FPS) for PC which can support up to 100 players in its maps (50 players per team), a huge step forward from "Battlefield 1's" 64-player maps. The upcoming FPS is also stepping up its game by featuring a 1:1 scale 4-square kilometer map, all possible using the Unreal Engine 4.

However, developer Black Matter is still a small independent company, which is why the company decided to launch its own Kickstarter campaign for the WWII FPS. Interested patrons can choose to donate their money to the developers to raise the target $106,000 or £80,000 by the end of the month.

Black Matter also unveiled a video trailer for their upcoming game, featuring a work-in-progress infantry gameplay in the western front of the war, specifically Utah beach in Nazi-occupied Normandy, France. The pre-alpha trailer also showcased the power of Unreal Engine 4 in rendering a realistic battlefield from a WWII foot soldier's perspective.

The developers also reportedly recreated and handcrafted the battlefield from archival reference material and satellite photographs. There will also be several categories of vehicles available for use in-game: supply, transport, light armor, medium armor, heavy armor, mobile artillery, tank destroyer, assault gun, half-track, scout, and repair vehicles. Each of these vehicles will have their own specific role to play and will ensure a dynamic twist in the combat mechanics of the game.

It is not yet confirmed, however, whether the developers can implement aerial combat in the upcoming game like the "Battlefield" franchise. Still, Black Matter is confident that "Hell Let Loose" can stand on its own merits and will be a definitive WWII game.

Should the Kickstarter be successful, the developers plan a closed alpha in the first quarter of 2018 with an Early Access launch in the second quarter of next year.
