"Helldivers" has been available for barely two months, released in the first week of March. However, developer Arrowhead Game Studios has already planned way ahead to keep the game interesting and exciting, and would be offering scheduled updates.

For one, the developer released a video that details some features of the upcoming "Turning up the Heat" expansion pack. It will also be publishing a series of videos highlighting the different new features and improvements for the update.

"Turning up the Heat" will be a free update for "Helldivers" players, following the numerous weapons packs that were released previously. The DLC will offer three new objectives for players to complete.

First would be arranging for artillery. Somewhere in the game area is a broken down piece of artillery that players need to find, repair, and activate using the three shells also found within the vicinity.

After completing the first task, players can then participate in a geological survey. Using a beacon, players deploy the item that calls in a drill. Once this is done, the area then becomes the focus of an attack, and players must defend the drill until extraction is complete and the data is accumulated.

Finally, the third new task to be made available is a search and destroy mode. Rather than capturing a territory, players must search for an unexploded armament and render it safe. A mission-specific item, the ME-I Sniffer metal detector, is a key item in this game mode. Players must find the bombs scattered in the area using the metal detector and disarm them. This must be done carefully, as a single mistake means that players will start over from scratch.

No specific date yet has been set for the release of the free update, although the developer claims that the launch would be "very soon."
