Jamie Degen, the creator of the '90s style first-person shooter (FPS) game "Hellscreen," recently launched a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign with a goal of $34,374.

According to the Kickstarter page of the game, "Hellscreen" is inspired by FPS games in the 1990s such as "Doom," "Quake" and "Unreal." Players will be tasked to shoot enemies, dodge incoming attacks and progress through the network of evil as fast as players can possibly do. PC Gamer reported that death is a means to win the game — in "Hellscreen," each death lets players upgrade both their weapons and abilities with the use of souls retrieved in the players' last run. 

Some of the key features of the game include a low-resolution surrealistic visual style (inspired by Zdzislaw Beksinski and H.R. Giger combined with classic pixel textures), an aggressive combat (there will be no such as thing as a retreat in the game as players will have to engage in combats that will test the limits of their skills) and a rear view mirror (the game features a new perspective that enables players to see and fire enemies behind as well as detect select enemies, secrets and bonuses). The game also features weapons that transform and change function depending on what a scenario calls for, interconnected maps, designed and hand-crafted levels to give players the best gaming experience and manipulative environments that allow players to control levels' environments to suit their needs.

The rewards tier of the game includes Winamp skin, digital media pack, full personal computer (PC) version of "Hellscreen," game's official soundtrack, special access to developer's discord, access to closed beta, limited edition game stickers, pocket mirror, T-shirt and A1 poster, and an opportunity to work with the developers to design a combat arena for the game. As of writing, "Hellscreen" was able to garner $3,605 out of the $34,374 goal.

The Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign for "Hellscreen" is scheduled to run until March 29 at 8:12 p.m. AWST.
