Matthew Vaughn, director of the first "Kick-Ass" film, recently told Yahoo! Movies in an interview that he is officially developing a "Hit-Girl" movie which would serve as a prequel to the franchise before moving on to do "Kick-Ass 3." 

According to the report, Vaughn is not yet "happily done" with the franchise and would like to do a film showcasing how Hit-Girl (Chloe Grace Moretz) and her father Big Daddy (Nicholas Cage) became the two vigilante heroes in "Kick-Ass." 

The director continued to explain that this prequel might bring back the fans that lost faith in the series after "Kick-Ass 2" failed to hit the critical praise and box office standards achieved by the first film, although the first film did not make much at the box office either. 

Another important issue is that the film will be set as a prequel and Moretz will be too old to portray the character at this point. Cage may still return as Big Daddy, but the studios will need to recast Hit-Girl with a much younger actress. Moretz could return for an epilogue scene that could tie in to "Kick-Ass 3." 

According to a report from Screen Rant, Mark Millar, creator of the graphic novel that inspired the films, stated, "I love the idea of there being Hit-Girl movies. It has to be the right story though. We have a crazy idea for it, and every now and then I think, 'Is this too crazy?' Because it's kind of insane. Would the world accept this?" 

He continued to state that the ideas he and Vaughn have cooked up would make "Kick-Ass" look like "Finding Nemo" in comparison. 

He also went on to explain that a "Hit-Girl" film  might not have worked a few years ago. These days, however, the movie-going public has been exposed to "The Hunger Games" and "Mad Max: Fury Road," which all have strong female leads, hinting that a "Hit-Girl" film can achieve success.
