Australia and the Netherlands will play at the Estadio Beira-Rio in Porto Alegre on Wednesday as the World Cup 2014 tournament continues.

The Netherlands have the chance to put one foot in the Last 16 today if they can win again. Last week in their opening game they shocked the world when they demolished World Cup and European Championship title holders Spain 5-1.

They will be massive favorites to win here today against an Australian team far from certain of themselves.

Australia lost their opening game 1-3 against Chile, and that means if they suffer another loss here against Holland today, they will almost certainly be eliminated from the competition.

This will be the first time that Australia and the Netherlands have played each other at a World Cup Finals, however, in the three most recent encounters between the teams it is Australia who have got the results. In their last three games together, Australia have won once, with there also being two draws.

However, Australia have won just two of their last 11 World Cup games, and they will be massive underdogs against a rampant Netherlands team today.

The Netherlands are unbeaten in their last 11 World Cup group matches, having won eight and drawn three of those 11 games. They have not lost in the group stages of the World Cup since all the way back in 1994, when they lost to Belgium.

Australia will be hoping to inflict a first loss in two decades for Holland in the World Cup group stages.

The game will kick off at 12 p.m. EST and will be broadcast on the ESPN network. The game can also be watched online – free for subscribers – through a live stream link by clicking here.
