Holly Holm has been aching to get back in action but the UFC seems bent on preserving her for a much awaited rematch with Ronda Rousey.

Though Holm does seem powerless at her options right now, UFC president Dana White may have finally accepted the fact that it may take more than just six months for Rousey to return to the Octagon. And with that said, White has now allowed Holm to fight someone else, seeing that the wait for Rousey could be longer than expected.

With that said, Holm may eventually face Miesha Tate after all. Tate's name was the one mentioned in previous reports as the suitable opponent for Holm while Rousey remains indisposed.

Holm had wanted a fight with Tate this March in what was a move to keep her in shape. The long layoff was something she was not keen on, though it was obvious that the UFC wanted her to stay as champion until the former UFC women's bantamweight champion would be good to go.

But per her revelation via ESPN The Magazine, Rousey hasn't fully recovered and is still feeling the effects off that vicious kick to the head by Holm. She admits having a hard time eating and may need more time to whip herself back to shape.

Other than that, there is the question of time for Rousey. Everyone knew that she would be taking some time off to fulfill her film commitments and that was initially based on the understanding that she would win it all at UFC 193.

So the whole scenario has completely changed and the time element pushed further.

With Holm and Tate looming on the horizon, such will be an interesting face-off. Both have the distinction of lasting more than one round against Rousey, though Holm holds a credible advantage since she dealt Rowdy her first UFC career defeat.
