'Homeland' season 4 episode 8 spoilers: Carrie searches for Saul and a traitor within the embassy

Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) gets her hands full in the upcoming episode of Homeland Season 4.Facebook

After the surprising appearance of Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis) in last week's heart-wrenching episode, Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) will have to find a way to rescue former CIA director Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin) from the hands of Haissam Haqqani (Numar Acar) in the eighth episode of Homeland Season 4.

Showtime released the official synopsis for the episode titled Halfway to a Donut, which reads:

"Carrie organizes a last-ditch operation; Lockhart and Martha stall Pakistan's Inter-Services-Intelligence."

It is not unusual for Carrie to be extra passionate in a mission to save an important person in her life. Saul had been her trusted mentor for a long time, and she will try everything to rescue him from the terrorist.

Good thing her new boss Andrew Lockhart (Tracy Letts) and US Ambassador Martha Boyd (Laila Robbins) will do their best to help Carrie in her mission by distracting the Pakistani intelligence.

In the video teaser for episode 8, Carrie reveals to Lockhart that she knows Saul's location. Haqqani was hiding the former CIA chief so he can use him as part of a prisoner exchange deal. However, Saul informs the CIA and the group behind the Pakistani ISI that he is not interested to be rescued. Saul is heard saying in the teaser, "Don't do it! Tell them to go to hell!"

Meanwhile, Carrie will discover that somebody tampered with her medicines, which caused her to hallucinate about her dead boyfriend and partner Brody. She decided to ask Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend) to schedule a secret meeting with Lockhart to discuss who the possible traitor within the group.

"I need you, him and me in the secure room as soon as possible, just the three of us until we can figure out who we can trust," she tells Quinn.

In another news, Showtime announced that "Homeland" and its new series "The Affair" will return next year for their new seasons.

"In its fourth season, Homeland has brilliantly reinvented itself. It continues to capture the attention of a devoted fan base, and has provided an enviable platform for the successful launch of The Affair. With thought-provoking, relevant and addictive storylines, both series have been embraced, dissected and much debated week after week. We're excited to see more from these complex shows in 2015," Showtime exec David Nevins said.

Homeland Season 4 episode 8 will air on November 16, 9 p.m. at Showtime.
