'Homeland' season 4 finale spoilers: Carrie takes her battles to the U.S.

Who would have thought that Dar Adal (F. Murray Abraham) has actually been working with the terrorists all along?

Fans who watched the entire "Homeland" season 4 still cannot believe that the retired black ops specialist is capable of working with terror leader Haissam Haqqani, and it is not sure up to what extent he supported the activities of the insurgent group.

In the 12th and final episode before the series goes on a winter hiatus, CIA officer Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) and her old boss Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin) return to the U.S. safely, but the events in Islamabad remain unforgotten.

The official synopsis of the episode titled "Long Time Coming" reads: "Back in the States, Carrie and Saul investigate what she saw in Islamabad."

Since Carrie is back in America, it can be assumed that she would do everything that she can to pin down the terrorists to make them pay for Fara's (Nazanin Boniadi) death. However, there is no news whether or not Carrie's long-time friend Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend) is also back home with her.

Meanwhile, Carrie's troubles do not end at the workplace. Now that she's home, Carrie has to face the death of her dad Frank, played by actor James Rebhorn, who also died earlier this year.

Carrie first heard of her father's death when she was still in Islamabad, after her sister Maggie (Amy Hargreaves) informed her that Frank suffered a massive stroke. Avid viewers of the show would like to find out how Carrie will handle the death of her dad, but more importantly, they would like to know if she will finally have the chance to build a relationship with her daughter Frannie, who she left with Maggie when she went to Islamabad.

Frannie is her daughter with her late partner/lover Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis), who was executed by Iranian authorities last season.

"Homeland" season 4 episode 12 airs on Dec. 21, then the show goes on hiatus until next year.
