'Homeland' season 4 spoilers: No more Brody family, characters headed in different directions

"Homeland" Season 3 ended on a very sad note when lead star Damian Lewis' character Nicholas Brody died through hanging in Iran. The world was shocked and couldn't believe it happened. The only consolation is that he and Carrie Mathison, played by Claire Danes, are having a child together.

For Season 4, Carrie, Saul (Mandy Patinkin), Fara (Nazanin Boniadi) and Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend) will all be returning. And they had a behind-the-scenes chat with TVLine, where the cast shared a dew details about season 4.

"Everyone's going in different directions. It's going to be exciting to see where that goes," Boniadi said.

Another big change is the TV show's shooting location. Back then, all characters used to film at Langley. Now, they're filming in Cape Town, South Africa. Cape Town will be used to look like Pakistan and Afghnistan as Carrie accepted her job as Station Chief there.

Patinkin also shared that he doesn't know what will happen to the story and he likes to keep it this way. He prefers playing the guessing game. "I love being wrong," he said. "I wouldn't be shocked or surprise if there are shocks and surprises."

Meanwhile, for fans hoping the Brody is still alive - he really isn't and he will no longer be a part of season 4. His family, including Jessica (Morena Baccarin) and Dana (Morgan Saylor), won't be in the upcoming season too.

"Homeland" has been nothing but exceptional throughout its three seasons. However, coming into season 4, it will be a big change since the major story arc of Nicholas Brody is now gone. Also, Lewis is no longer the lead star, which will really test the loyal fan base of the show.

"Homeland" Season 4 returns on October 5, Sunday at 9 p.m. on Showtime, with a two-hour premiere.
