Quinn's (Rupert Friend) life will be in mortal danger in the upcoming episode of the hit political thriller series "Homeland."

In "New Normal," the promo released by Showtime shows Quinn bound and gagged and for all intents and purposes, about to be the sacrificial lamb by the insurgents who want to cause terror in Berlin. A video they uploaded demands that the United Nations Security Council has 24 hours to do their bidding, or Quinn will be killed. Carrie (Claire Danes) sees the clip and is horrified. She now knows where Quinn is after he disappeared without a trace on what was assumed to be a mission in Syria.

Quinn was supposed to escort a group of jihadist to cross the border. He managed to convince them that he was also a crook, never knowing that his real intent was to have a dialogue with the deputy Emir. The CIA has a top-secret mission in Syria and it needs the support of the head of state. But things quickly changed when the leader of the extremists changed his plans and declared they were going to Berlin instead. Soon, Quinn was bound and tossed at the back of the van, and the viewers could only guess what would become of his fate.

The upcoming episode shows exactly what the jihadists are planning for Quinn. He will be imprisoned inside a glass room, where sarin gas would soon make short work of his life. While he succumbs to the toxic fumes, a camera will be recording the deed from start to finish. The insurgents will do this to show the world they are not bluffing with their demands. Quinn will be the sacrifice, a sample of what is to come to the citizens of Berlin, after they are done with their chemical attack.

Before Quinn was taken to the chamber, the person from the group whom he struck an unusual friendship with managed to inject him with a healthy dose of antidote for the gas. Unfortunately, the viewers do not know if it would be enough to tide him through. Will Quinn live after the torture?

"Homeland" season 5 airs Sundays at 9 p.m. EST on Showtime.
