Carrie Mathison (Clare Danes) and the CIA will likely pit against the lowlifes of the American society in the upcoming season of the hit series "Homeland."

David Nevins, the big man in Showtime, recently shared that season 6 of the drama series would be set "in and around New York." Unlike the last installment, which was shot entirely in Berlin, Germany, the storyline will revolve and take place primarily in the New York area, albeit not exclusively. Entertainment Weekly reports that the other locations used in the previous seasons varied from domestic United States to South Africa.

"After setting the show in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Europe, we wanted to do another America story. Also, I think the actors will be happy to be back in the U.S. For a year. I don't think it's necessarily going to stay there forever, but there was a strong interest in doing a domestic story from the creative team," Nevins said.

If the most of the scenes will be filmed in New York, a report from Design & Trend posits that the central threat Carrie and Langley will be facing will be domestic as well. Most likely, they will be dealing with American terrorists, political disputes, and overall domestic unrest. The CIA will likely be tapped to solve these problems that will threaten the safety of the entire nation. If that is the case, Americans will take down fellow Americans.

The report claims that the storyline will touch on "big-city politics," specifically the events in the White House. Saul Berenson (Mandy Patinkin) will reportedly make a bid for a higher position and the setting will be the perfect place to "climb the agency food chain." Other characters' relationship will purportedly be more cut throat, as politics dictates where their loyalty lies.

"Homeland" season 6 is expected to return this fall.
