Fans of the political thriller "Homeland" have no reason to worry because "Homeland" season 6 is indeed happening. In fact, details about the new season are already pouring in, courtesy of Showtime CEO David Nevins and programming president Gary Levine.

"Homeland will be shot next year in New York City, in and around New York," Nevins said during the Television Critics Association, as quoted by Slash Film. "It will be set domestically. It will be set primarily in the New York area, but not exclusively," he explained.

Levine, on the other hand, promises that showrunner Alex Gansa and his team will "reinvent" the new season. The programming president is extra excited about how Gansa will keep "Homeland" season 6 fresh and thrilling upon the show's return to United States.

For those who are wondering why the new season finds itself in the U.S. once again, Levine explained that the time has come for a comeback, considering they have been to other nations like Afghanistan, Pakistan and Europe. "[We] wanted to do another America story," he told EW.

He also believes that the cast members will be happy to shoot "Homeland" season 6 there. He, however, hinted that "I don't think it's necessarily going to stay there forever, but there was a strong interest in doing a domestic story from the creative team."

While a renewal is nothing to worry about, the question of who will return for "Homeland" season 6 makes fans nervous. [Spoiler Alert!] The apprehension is mostly about Peter Quinn's fate. He was holding on for dear life by the end of the season 5 finale.

Levine said that Quinn is "severely damaged." If he was to die, it will make sense for him to appear in the new season just to be written off. However, fans can place hope on the statement of show producer Howard Gordon, who told THR that Quinn actually "has a good chance of coming back."

"Homeland" season 6 is expected to return this fall.
