Carrie Mathison's (Claire Danes) young daughter Frannie will become a major character when "Homeland" returns for season 6.

TVLine revealed that Carrie's child with her late husband Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis) will be four years old when the premiere episode of season 6 airs in 2017, and the producers are looking for a new actor to portray the character who will have a major recurring role next season.

Carrie's daughter has been a part of the series since season 3, right after Brody passed away in the hands of terrorists. She decided to leave her infant child with her sister Maggie (Amy Hargreaves) when she was stationed in Afghanistan in season 4. She opted to take her to Germany for season 5. However, the call of duty forced her to neglect her maternal duties to Frannie to fight the enemy.

The search for the next Frannie already began, and the producers are looking for a young girl in the Pre-K age range before the series resumes filming at the end of the year.

Meanwhile, fans are also looking forward to finding out the health status of Peter Quinn (Rupert Friend) after being declared in a coma at the end of season 5.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Showtime programming president Gary Levine said that "Quinn is severely damaged. There is no question about it. The life-or-death question remains. But if he should live, it will not be in any way, shape or form the way he has lived to date."

However, he did not reveal whether the character will return to his old self next season, or if he will return via flashbacks if he turns out to be dead. But if he indeed recovers, it does it mean that it will be a quick recovery for the CIA operative.

"Homeland" season 6 is expected to air early next year.
