Honor 7X release date, specs news: Smartphone features dual cameras, affordable price

Huawei is adding a new model to its Honor X series — the Honor 7X. The device will follow its predecessors, which are known for being high-quality models at affordable prices.

The Honor 5X, which was first launched in 2015, was one of the first Android smartphones encased in a metal body that had at an entry-level price. It was followed by the Honor 6X, which came out last year. Now, the Honor 7X will be making its appearance. A teaser for the Honor 7X was revealed to the public last September, announcing that the new model will be coming out on Oct. 11.

According to Droidholic, a listing for Huawei's new model for the Honor X series appeared on the TENAA website, the authority on Chinese telecommunications. The listing also details the Honor 7X's specs. The device will sport a 6-inch, 18:9 display with a 2160 x 1080-pixel resolution. It will run on the Kirin 659 processor with 4 GB of random-access memory (RAM) and 64 GB of internal storage space alongside microSD card support.

The rear camera of the Honor 7X will be made up of a 16-megapixel and 2-megapixel dual-rear sensor, with a front camera that can take 8-megapixel pictures. The new phone model's battery capacity also clocks in at 3,340 mAh. A fingerprint scanner is placed on the back.

Honor 7X will launch in three colors: black, blue and gold. The phone weighs 165 grams, having the dimensions of 156.5 x 75.3 x 7.6 mm. The phone will run on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. In terms of design, the Honor 7X's aesthetics is similar to the original iPhone 6.

The Huawei Honor 7X is expected to go on sale in China on Oct. 17. It has a starting price of CNY 1,300, which is about $200.
