Huawei has recently unveiled another smartphone model to wrap up the year. Announced as the Honor View 10, the handset further tightens the competition among upper-midrange devices released this year. The Honor View 10 boasts an impressive artificial intelligence (AI) features that can topple off other premium flagship phones, particularly the OnePlus 5T.

The Huawei Honor View 10 marks the evolution of the company's Honor V series. The collection of mid-tier smartphones will now be known as the Honor View series, and unlike the previous entries, the new Honor View 10 will be distributed in markets outside China. The device looks very promising, featuring the classic elements of the 2017 flagship handsets such as multiple cameras, slimmer bezels, and an almost all-screen display. These aside, the highlight of the Honor View 10 is the enhanced AI capabilities, which is why it was introduced by Huawei as "your first AI phone."

The AI power of the Huawei Honor View 10 comes from a neural processing unit (NPU), which works with the existing core processor and graphics processing unit (GPU) to give a great speed boost in imaging computation. The full capacity of the NPU's image-based processing is not yet known, although it is expected to recognize several types of photo subjects. Another AI function supported by the Honor View 10's dedicated NPU is translating written texts to another language 300% faster than other smartphones without NPU.

Huawei appears to be generous with the Honor View 10. For an upper-midrange price tag, users can get a combination of multiple hardware such as the Kirin 970 chipset and Mali G72 GPU. The mobile processor is accompanied by 6GB random access memory (RAM) and 128 gigabytes (GB) of internal storage. The Huawei Honor View 10 will run the latest Android 8.0 Oreo OS out of the box. 

Other specs include a 3,750mAh battery with SuperCharging feature, a rear-positioned dual camera consisting of 20-megapixel (MP) and 16MP sensors with low-light environment support, plus the 3.5mm headphone jack. The Huawei Honor View 10 is now on sale in the United Kingdom for €499, or approximately USD $589. The smartphone will be released simultaneously in other countries such as India and the United States on Jan. 8, 2018.
