The "Amnesia Collection," which includes "Amnesia: The Dark Descent" and "Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs," is currently available for free on Steam for a limited time.

Valve announced the news for the two horror games on Mar. 8. Moreover, Valve said that once players have installed both games, they will remain in their Steam account and will still be playable after the free period. However, Valve failed to mention until when players can download the "Amnesia Collection" for free.

"Amnesia: The Dark Descent" is a first-person survival horror game developed and published by Frictional Games. The game is said to be about immersion, discovery and living through a nightmare. In the game, players take on the role of Daniel who woke up in a ruined castle without any memory of his past. Thrown in a place where dangers lurk in every corner, Daniel must survive and defend himself by means of hiding, running or using his wits. Not only will Daniel have to brave the eerie castle and whatever ghostly mystery it hosts, he must also face the horrors his mind conjures.

"Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs" is the sequel for "Amnesia: The Dark Descent" developed by The Chinese Room and published by Frictional Games. The game is set in 1899 and players take on the role of Oswald Mandus who is a wealthy industrialist. He woke up in his bed, afflicted with fever from a tropical disease and haunted by dreams of a dark and hellish machine he had encountered in his disastrous voyage to Mexico. He noticed that his house is silent, the ground underneath shaking in accordance to the whims of the said infernal machine. One thing he is certain of is that his children are in great danger and he must do everything in his power to save them.
