House of Cards season 2 release time on Netflix today - Feb. 14, 2014

House of Cards

House of Cards, the Golden Globe-nominated television series that captured audiences with its drama of dirty politics, manipulation and betrayal, returns on Valentine's day for a second season.

In just hours, fans will be able to binge-watch all new episodes of the highly anticipated premiere on Netflix. All 13 episodes will be available at 3:01 a.m. ET midnight on Feb. 14, 2014.

The House of Cards season 2 Netlix trailer hints at new twists and powerful enemies threatening to expose Frank Underwood's political dirty laundry in the upcoming episodes.

The season finale last year saw Underwood receive the President's offer to be the Vice President, and reporter Zoe Barnes, played by Kate Mara, investigating closer to the truth about Frank's corrupt past with fellow journalist friends.

The new season will kick off with Underwood in the Vice President role.

According to the promo clip, there is "no mercy" for "those of us planning to the top of the food change." A lot of bloodshed is expected on the road to power, "paved with hypocrisy and casualties."

The official synopsis also reveals that Frank's wife, Claire, must deal with the bright glare of the spotlight as the Second Lady, and how the intense scrutiny eats away at their once private existence.

House of Cards is an original drama that garnered four Golden Globe nominations – best television series, best actor Kevin Spacey, best actress Robin Wright, and best supporting actor nomination for Corey Stoll. Director David Fincher also won a Primetime Emmy for outstanding directing for a drama series.

The American political drama began filming the second set of 13 episodes in April last year, primarily in Baltimore.

Executive producer Rick Cleveland mentioned to Gold Derby that he believed Season 2 would be the final season for House of Cards, adding that the main actors prefer to act in movies than in television. However, both Cleveland and creator Beau Willimon tweeted hopes to write more seasons.
