House of Cards season 2 almost finalized for 2014? Netflix "in progress" for season 3

Netflix heavily implied the possibility of season 3 of the popular "House of Cards" drama in a keynote address delivered this weekend.

Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos stated at the 2013 Film Independent Forum: "Our intent is that the show keep going for sure. It was a 26-episode commitment. It was not our intent that it just run for two seasons."

Sarandos' comments most likely confirm a third season of the multiple Emmy-award winning political drama. Talks for season 3 are currently "in progress right now," according to Deadline.

Filming for season 2 is currently wrapping up in Baltimore. Screenwriter Beau Willimon confirmed earlier this month that he has completed the second season. The series' second season will likely air early 2014.

Fans were worried that the political drama will end only after the second season after former co-executive producer Rick Cleveland commented at the Vancouver Film Festival that the drama "is only going to go a second season and I think that's it. Kevin Spacey likes to do movies and Robin Wright likes to do movies."

"House of Cards" initially received a 26-episode order from Netflix when it started.

The original Netflix drama won three Emmy awards last month and was nominated for six other awards.
