'House of Cards' season 3 release date, Netflix spoilers news: Doug Stamper alive, a hurricane, and Underwoods to start rocky political aspirations

House of Cards Season 3Wikipedia

Season 3 of the "House of Cards" is set to kick off on February 27 on Netflix in what is expected to bring in darker twists into the American political drama series.

With the political climate expected to be put up a notch, the demand for more power other than being the leader of the United States is expected to be among the plots in the third season.

Francis (or Frank) Underwood (Kevin Spacey) and wife Claire (Robin Wright) will carry on from last season where Frank was eventually sworn in to power as the new president of the United States. A series of betrayals led to the eventual resignation of the last president who was tagged in a controversial deal with China.

And now the third season promises to bring in more political turmoil with Frank sitting on the president's seat and wife Claire being the first lady. So what is there to expect?

There were some leaks that 'accidentally' came online last February 11 from Netflix which happened due to a bug. Though those spoilers are no longer available, fans can somehow get an idea of what is in store once the series debuts on February 27.

First off, expect Frank and Claire Underwood to experience a turbulent start after inheriting the presidency. Frank will seek to introduce an ambitious jobs program while his wife sets her sights at the United Nations.

Other spoilers include the Underwoods traveling to Russia where both would be meeting with the Russian president, said to be a young version of Vladimir Putin.

But their visit is about something more, potentially about an American prisoner which will presumably be their main itinerary as they try to negotiate for a release.

Doug Stamper (Michael Kelly) is alive. After being attacked by Rachel Posner with a brick, Stamper's body lay motionless. The scene seemingly led some to believe that it would be the end of Stamper but he will be back in season 3 where he recovers from a hospital.

Aside from those leaked spoilers, expect a hurricane to hit the East Coast where Frank will be left to make a difficult choice while a conflict will rise in the Jordan Valley in the Middle East towards the late part of the season.

Expect these and perhaps more once "House of Cards" season 3 kicks off this February 27, 2015.
