The accusations towards sex offenders in Hollywood have been rampant, and one of the most recently accused figures is "House of Cards" star, Kevin Spacey. The allegations made against Spacey has put the streaming giant, Netflix, in a very difficult position.

In a report by Vanity Fair, Netflix has already announced that season 6 will be the last one for the "House of Cards," but production has been halted indefinitely. It is safe to assume that the network has taken this time off to deliberate on what to do with the show, especially since it is in their best interest to steer clear from Spacey in the meantime. Meanwhile, depending on the blow that the scandal takes on Spacey's career, Netflix is coming up with solutions.

The popular opinion is that the show will go on in the form of a spin-off after season 6 is over. According to Variety, there are already ideas in the works as to what the spin-off will be all about. The conceptualization and ideas are right now at the very early stages, and are still probably being finalized by the show's creators. One sure way to go would be to make Doug Stemper, played by Michael Kelly, as the new protagonist, which could be a very different story.

At this point, it is too early, even for the writers of the show, to even have a solid and well-established concept regarding the spin-off especially due to the rushed manner in which it has to happen amidst Spacey's scandal. However, it is also notable to mention that Claire Underwood, played by Robin Wright, could end up being the new protagonist, especially since she is also a politically-driven woman who loves power.

It is certainly anyone's guess on what the spin-off could be about, or if there will even be one at all.
