The Houston Rockets have been mum on team plans although the latest news is that the team recently lost Josh Smith who reportedly opted to join the Los Angeles Clippers for at least a year.

Even though that all seems moot and academic, the Rockets need to address their guard rotation needs. And it looks like that is their main focus right now with Corey Brewer and Patrick Beverly reportedly re-signing on separate multi-year contracts.

Brewer was acquired via the Minnesota Timberwolves last December and was a target of several teams, including the Sacramento Kings and the New York Knicks. But seeing that Brewer had preferred to stay on with the Rockets, such was apparently the case.

He signed a three-year pact worth $23.4 million while Beverly on the other hand re-signed for four years for $23 million.

Brewer is undoubtedly one of the key contributors among Kevin McHale's charges last season, averaging 11.5 points per outing and upping those numbers to 15 PPG in the playoffs.

Numbers aside, it was really Brewer's leadership that endeared him to the Rockets, not to mention the defense he put up against opposing guards.

Beverly's re-signing squashes rumors that he could be up for trade. The usual starting guard missed the last 16 games of the Rockets in the regular season and did not play a single minute in the playoffs as he dealt with a torn ligament in his left wrist.

But the question now is who else the Rockets plan to add to their backcourt, something that was apparently lacking in their previous campaign.

The Rockets were eyeing several prospects, including former player Jeremy Lin to help improve their rotation. All those plans were however doused when Lin signed up with the Charlotte Hornets.

There is no word yet on who the Rockets plan to take in for now. Jason Terry, another unrestricted free agent could be re-signing as well with both parties nearing a deal.
