Houston Rockets trade rumors 2016: A reunion with Goran Dragić would have been perfect

Goran Dragić may be struggling with the Miami Heat, but it doesn't seem to follow that Pat Riley is considering trading off his prized Slovenian point guard.

Dragić has been far from the same player who came out with an impressive performance despite being acquired halfway last season, a bit odd considering he just signed a new deal which should keep him secure.

A reason behind it is that he may be having a hard time trying to blend in with the Heat stars. He has struggled to get on the same page with Dwyane Wade, depriving him of showcasing what he really brings to Miami.

But could his performance improve if he were to move to another team?

Despite signing a rich deal with the Heat, the 29-year-old guard remains in the radar of the Houston Rockets.

Dragić did play with the Rockets before, although his previous stint was not as remarkable when he started to move around. He was a target last season but unfortunately, the Heat beat them to it.

Right now, it doesn't seem likely that general manager Daryl Morey can pull off a trade involving Dragić, not with the cast he has right now. If ever a trade would be discussed, it would include a key player in the mix.

Skimming down the roster of the Heat alongside the players they could deal for, there is no player outside James Harden and Dwight Howard who could tempt Miami to pull the trigger.

Dragić would have been perfect to address the point guard woes the Rockets have yet to resolve. But then again, there is the question of coexisting with Harden. It doesn't seem entirely different from the Dragić–Wade duo, with the bearded one known to want the ball in his hands most of the time.

So that, plus no interesting players to dangle hints at a futile wish to acquire Dragić.

If there are any plans to snag him, the wait could be five years which would be the end of his current $90 million contract with the Heat.
