Houston Rockets trade rumors 2016: Brandon Jennings the answer for struggling Ty Lawson?

The Houston Rockets acquired point guard Ty Lawson via trade before the season started to add firepower in the backcourt, but as Lawson fails to mesh with the system, it seems like a trade is the best answer.

Lawson was an efficient underrated point guard when he was still playing for the Denver Nuggets, that is why despite a number of offcourt issues, Houston still pushed through in trading for him.

But as the season progressed, Lawson is not shaping up as the player the Rockets wanted him to be.

The 28-year-old is no longer the scorer he was with the Nuggets and is finding himself coming off the bench in most of the games he played this season.

Lawson's downhill performance is not helping the Rockets, who are slowly finding their rhythm after struggling with consistency early in the season.

Despite the current success Houston is having, the team will have a hard time to become legitimate contenders in the very tough Western Conference.

Since Lawson is not living up to expectations, the Rockets may pursue a deal acquiring a point guard who can do his job.

The hottest point guard in the rumor mill is the Detroit Pistons' Brandon Jennings, who is returning from an injury and lost his starting job to Reggie Jackson.

Jennings was the Pistons' main playmaker last season, but an injury derailed his momentum and is now a part of the second unit.

The 26-year-old point guard is slowly bouncing back, but it seems like even if he fully recovers, the starting role will no longer return to him.

Since Jennings and Lawson are getting used to becoming reserves, a deal exchanging the two might work for both teams.

Jennings may have the same role with the Rockets, although he has proven before that he can carry a team, and that is a huge plus for a backup point guard.

Rockets starting point guard Patrick Beverley can get more rest with Jennings coming in to replace him in games.

Meanwhile, since Lawson is having a hard time in Houston, a fresh start with the Pistons might be the answer for him to resurrect his career.
