A number of teams in the National Basketball Association (NBA) are aiming to improve their backcourt and one of those is the Houston Rockets, who are looking at a failed experiment in point guard Ty Lawson. 

The Rockets traded for Lawson before the season began, even if there were off-court issues, because they were seeking for another ball handler and scorer who can play alongside All-Star guard James Harden. 

Unfortunately for the Rockets, Lawson is not playing the way they expected him to and is averaging career-lows in points (6.5) and rebounds (1.8) this season. 

According to a report by Kevin Pelton of ESPN, Rockets general manager Daryl Morey is continually searching for a second playmaker. 

Pelton mentioned the Miami Heat's Goran Dragić, who he said might have the same issues Lawson has playing with Harden, but his up-tempo style is "ideal" for Houston's second unit. 

The Heat acquired Dragić last season via trade from the Phoenix Suns to improve their roster to deal with the end of the LeBron James era in South Beach.

Because of the impact the 29-year-old player had, he was signed to a five-year deal worth around $85 million. 

Currently, Dragić is the main point guard for the Heat and is playing fine for a team that is doing enough to stay in the top eight of the Eastern Conference standings. 

Dragić is averaging 12.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, 5.2 assists, and one steal in 32.3 minutes of action per outing. 

Despite Dragić being a great fit to the Rockets, it is unlikely for the team to bring him back via trade before the deadline. Aside from Harden, there seems to be no other Rockets player who could interest the Heat to ship Dragić to Houston. According to SportsBlog.com, veteran forward Trevor Ariza, who is a 3-and-D player, could be an option; but it is unlikely for Miami to trade its best point guard for him.
