The mystery behind the murder of Wes Gibbins' (Alfred Enoch) father Wallace Mahoney (Adam Arkin) will be dealt with when "How to Get Away With Murder" season 3 returns.

Wes and Wallace had a very painful reunion when the supposed father-and-son pair met up in New York. But instead of an expected confrontation scene between the two, Wes saw how Wallace was murdered by an unidentified culprit right in front of him. But did Wes see who shot his father?

Speculations claim that Wallace's killer might be Frank Delfino (Charlie Weber). In an interview with TV.com, series creator Peter Nowalk said that Frank's possible involvement in the killing actually makes sense since he just discovered the relationship between Wes and Wallace as well as the latter's involvement in the car accident.

But the series creator claimed that he will not confirm nor deny the claims regarding Frank's possible responsibility for the crime at the moment.

"I will say, sometimes we like to shock you guys and sometimes we like to do what makes sense. It's all up for grabs," Nowalk told TV.com.

Weber also felt that his character has a hand in killing Wallace. In an interview with TVLine, the actor said that "Wallace was a powerful man with a lot of enemies, and Frank is certainly one of them."

Meanwhile, iDigitalTimes speculated that there is still a possibility that Wallace could not be Wes' real father. According to the report, Annalise Keating (Viola Davis) only deduced about Wes and Wallace's paternal relationship based on her observation about Wes' mother Rose (Kelsey Scott) when she went to her when Wallace was still her client. But there is no concrete proof about the claim.

The report mentioned that there is a possibility that Wes' real father could be Wallace's son Charles Mahoney (Wilson Bethel). This could mean that the older Mahoney could be his grandfather instead.

This could be confirmed when "How To Get Away With Murder" returns to ABC for season 3 this fall.
