The last episode of ABC's "How to Get Away with Murder" proved to be a shocker when it was revealed that Wes (Alfie Enoch) was the one who sold out Annalise (Viola Davis) and provided the evidence that got her arrested.

While many fans wondered why Wes — who is considered to be Annalise's favorite student — would turn against his mentor and the person who is a motherly figure to him, it should really come as no surprise that the brewing distrust from previous seasons, as well as the secrets, have finally pushed Wes over the edge.

In the previous episode, a flash forward scene revealed that Wes made a deal with the DA to become the star witness in their case against Annalise.

In an interview with the EW, EP Peter Nowalk confessed that it will not be easy for Annalise to deal with this latest betrayal since she has been betrayed time and again by the men in her life – her husband Sam (Tom Verica), Frank (Charlie Weber), and now Wes.

"That's one of the things we're going to deal with in the back half of the season. Say what you want to say about Annalise, but she's been betrayed specifically by guys over and over again, and she's put her neck out on the line for Wes — he shot her, she forgave him; he killed her husband, she forgave him. She would be devastated by that to her core, to the point that she would question what she is even doing with her life," he said.

But because of the show's nature where everything should not be taken at face value, some pundits have speculated that Annalise and Wes could have a secret plan that no one knows about.

However, the question of who the casualty under the sheet could be remains. Nowalk previously said that they will finally be revealing who it is in the midseason finale, which is still a couple of episodes off.

Connor (Jack Falahee) is still nowhere to be seen, so both fan favorite characters are still in the running, E! reported.
