Shondaland fans' dream team is assembling on ABC. It has been confirmed that the network's "Thank God It's Thursday" dramas "Scandal" and "How To Get Away with Murder" are getting a crossover episode, uniting Shonda Rhimes' two most powerful female characters, political fixer Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) and criminal law professor Annalise Keating (Viola Davis).

The series creator announced the good news herself on Wednesday, posting an excerpt of the script of the crossover episode.

"People. It's happening. @petenowalk, you ready for this? #TGITCrossover #HowtoGetAwaywithScandal," she wrote on Twitter.

Talks of the crossover first surfaced when Washington shared a photo of herself on the "How To Get Away with Murder" set, tagging Davis in the post who later responded with her own teaser image in the "Scandal's" presidential Oval Office. Check out the teasers below:

Many fans have since expressed their excitement for the feast of dramatic monologues and cutting stares, with some seeing it as a dream come true and others already setting high but fitting hopes.

Although the cast members of both shows have mingled in real life many times, they have never appeared in the fictional realm together. Details are scarce at the moment, but this would the first time the shows would cross over and will likely be the last as "Scandal" is already nearing its seventh and final season.

With "Scandal's" imminent conclusion in mind, it is certain that the crossover would happen soon. Washington's political drama has 11 episodes left, set to definitely end in spring of 2018. It is unclear, however, if it will unfold across two episodes -- one "Scandal" season 7 and another from "How To Get Away With Murder" season 4 -- or simply a one-episode event taking up one of both show's timeslots.

Either way, they will return from their winter hiatus on Thursday, Jan. 18 at 9 and 10 p.m., respectively, on ABC.
