HP believes that it can turn your phone into a laptop with its Elite x3 smartphone. It started offering the latest Windows 10 device in the U.K. via the Windows Store early this month. Now, the device is up for pre-orders in the U.S. and Canada. For US$799, it will also arrive with a Desk Dock.

The HP Elite x3's description reads: "Get simple and seamless access to the people, apps and data you care about without the burden of switching devices with the HP Elite x3. The world's first built for business 3-in-1 device1 that combines PC power and productivity with premium smartphone capabilities in a sleek and secure device that can dock when you need to work big."

HP also stated that other sales channels in the U.S. will start shipping the device by Aug. 29, while the company's website will start offering the device by Sept. 5. Those who will avail the Elite X3 via the Microsoft Store will only receive it by Sept. 12, Neowin reported.

The HP Elite x3 will be powered by the high-performance Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor chip, paired with 4GB of RAM. It will come with 64GB internal storage and will be expandable to up to 256GB via a microSD card. It packs a lot of juice with its removable 4,150 mAh battery, as well as several options for connectivity via dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth4.0, NFC and 4G LTE. There will also be single- and dual-SIM variants.

The Windows 10 smartphone will offer a 5.96-inch AMOLED QHD screen with 2560 x 1440p screen resolution, protected by a Gorilla Glass 4, and comes with an anti-reflective coating. It will also come equipped with 16MP main and 8MP front cameras.

Additional features include USB 3.0 Type-C connector, Iris and Fingerprint scanner, an IP67 rating for dust- and water-resistance, a MIL-STD-810G rating that assures the device will not be damaged from a meter drop, Pogo pins for accessories, and Qi wireless charging.

The Desk Dock included will let the HP Elite x3 connect to a Windows 10 laptop or desktop machines, either wired or wireless, via NFC, and will use the Microsoft Continuum to let one continue to work seamlessly as well as listen to music or watch videos.

The HP Elite x3 is now available for pre-orders via the Microsoft Store for US$799.
