Taiwanese phone manufacturer HTC is undoubtedly proud of the 12MP UltraPixel main camera fitted in their recently released flagship phone, the HTC 10. DxOMark, the industry standard for camera testing, immediately put it to the test and it garnered a score of 88 points, the highest so far, and shares the limelight with the Samsung Galaxy S7.

"With an overall DxOMark Mobile score of 88 points, the HTC 10 offers outstanding mobile photography for both stills and video. Featuring a 12Mp 1/2.3-type sensor, this device excels for autofocus and texture preservation, making it a great choice for shooting moving subjects, or capturing detailed landscape and architectural shots," DxOMark stated. "A great all-rounder, the HTC 10 scored well in all our tests, securing a final Photo subscore of 88 and 86 for Video."

Additionally, the test conducted by DxOMark for still images showed good camera exposure, good noise reduction in conditions with low light, and good color rendering and white balance. However, the test also revealed several disadvantages, like loss of sharpness around the edges of a photo, noise in sky photos, and noise in images that use the flash as the main light source.

The HTC 10 camera also has both strong points and weak points when it comes to video recording. It offers good stability, exposure, white balance and color rendering in many conditions aside from its fast autofocus feature.

So, at the end of the day, those who will be using an HTC 10 in the near future will be glad to know that it can produce great captured photos of those special moments.

The HTC 10 offers a 5.2-inch Quad HD display with a 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution and a pixel density of 564 ppi. It uses a Super LCD 5 screen protected by Gorilla Glass.

It is powered by a quad-core 64-bit Snapdragon 820 paired with 4GB of RAM. It comes with 32GB internal storage, expandable up to 2TB via the microSD slot.

The battery is rated at 3,000 mAh, offering talk time of up to 27 hours on either 3G or 4G network, and up to 19 days of standby time. It is also Quick Charge 3.0-capable and can charge up to 50 percent of juice in 30 minutes.

The HTC 10 also features the HTC BoomSound Hi-Fi Edition that is Hi-Res audio-certified and Dolby Audio-equipped. This is an audiophile's dream smartphone.

Jeff Gordon, HTC's global online communications manager, mentioned that their new handset is IP53 certified. This means that it is slightly protected from dust debris and can only handle water mist. The highest certification is IP68, like that of the Samsung Galaxy S7 and S7 edge.

An unlocked HTC 10 is now being offered for U.S. residents for US$699 and is expected to ship by early May.
