HTC has just revealed its newest flagship, the 10. While the new iteration boasts top-tier specs and flagship features, observers say that the HTC 10 also has a few misses in terms of features.

"Two flagships"

One most noted miss that has some fans reacting is that apparently, there are two flagship iterations in the lineup. Allegedly, some regions will not get the top-tier HTC 10 with Snapdragon 820. Instead, the "flagship" that HTC will introduce is the HTC 10 Lifestyle, with a lower-level Snapdragon 652. While the SD 652 is an above-average chipset, it still pales in comparison with SD 820 SoC.

An iPhone clone?

According to Wired, one of the near-misses that HTC did for the new flagship is its design. While HTC maintains that its form factor is a combination of the One A9 and previous One M-series flagships, the industry follower said that there is still an "iPhone air" around its body profile.

UltraPixel camera is not that great

The industry observer is also not sold on the HTC 10's return to the UltraPixel camera setup. While image capture is crisp and quite fast, the result is still short of some of the other cameras found in competitor flagships. One iteration that overshadowed the HTC 10's UltraPixel setup is the new Huawei P9, with its dual-cam setup and Leica lens.

Still bulky and thick

TheNextWeb believes that the HTC 10 is a better flagship, but only on first glance. The industry observer said that while its chamfered edges make the iteration seem to have a slim profile, its body can go as thick as 9mm, and in today's flagship specs, 9mm is already considered as bulky.

Under-utilized speakers

The audio boost is also one of the things that fail to impress observers. While the Hi-Fi BoomSound may seem to be a great add-on, the audio feature looks to be a marketing fluff designed to pad the HTC 10's features list. In practical, everyday use, most people invest in a decent pair of headphones, so the audio fidelity is the speakers is under-utilized.
