A benchmark leak has fleshed out the HTC Butterfly 3, a forthcoming device from the Taiwan-based manufacturer that recently released the HTC One M9. A prototype of the device was run in CompuBench and most of the important specs of the handset were revealed.

The benchmark listing for the Butterfly 3 shows it running Android 5.0.2 Lollipop. It was revealed to come with a 5.1-inch Quad HD display. Rumor mills quite missed the mark by suggesting the device will feature a screen measuring 5.2 inches.

The handset will apparently draw its power from a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor clocked at 1.9 GHz and configured in big.LITTLE. The listing also suggests that it will boast 3 GB RAM and 32 GB storage space. There is no mention of expandability though.

In the imaging area, the HTC device is said to pack a 20-megapixel rear-facing camera complete with LED flash as well as a very hefty 13-megapixel camera on the front. This one is said to be capable of shooting 4K ultra high definition videos.

All that is left is the design. The Butterfly 3's predecessors were housed in plastic so it is safe to assume that the newest model will be armored with the same material as well, although it may also be that HTC will set it apart from the rest by encrusting it with a slicker shell.

In addition, the upcoming smartphone is expected to be waterproof, just like its predecessors. HTC could be aiming for an IP certificate for the formidable offering. In a nutshell, the still-unannounced handset already trounces several other new releases in the market.

The phone manufacturer is still mum about the HTC Butterfly 3, but it is heavily expected that it will lift the veil off the product next month.
